Pezza’s introduction sets the mood before any bins or ratios show up. Composting is for everyone, she says. Garden or not. Backyard or studio apartment. It’s a background job that quietly does its thing while you live your life.
The smell myth
This is the line that stuck with me: a good pile should smell like fresh woodlot soil. Not mold. Not rot. If you catch a bad odor, fix the pile or start over.
That matters because some towns have banned composting based on the idea that heaps attract rodents and stink up the block. Pezza pushes back hard. Done right, compost helps the environment and keeps waste out of landfills. You might end up teaching neighbors whether you planned to or not.

She’s basically saying: don’t let perfection stop you from starting.
My reaction
The intro is warm without being preachy. I like that she names the advocacy angle. Compost bans are real, and education fixes more problems than arguing on Nextdoor.
